Medlogics Initiates Clinical Registry to Demonstrate Efficacy of COBRA Coronary Stent System

Frankfurt, Germany and Santa Rosa, CA, March 19, 2008; - Medlogics Device Corporation announces the first patient enrolled in its post-market-approval clinical registry of the COBRA Coronary Stent System. Nicolaus Reifart, MD, FESC, FACC, Professor and Chief of the Department of Internal Medicine, Interventional Cardiology and Angiology at the Main-Taunus-Kliniken Bad Soden, near Frankfurt, enrolled the first patient in the COBRA registry. Professor Dr. Reifart, who has been performing coronary angioplasty since 1982 and contributes significantly to the science and technology of interventional cardiology through medical research, states: “The COBRA Coronary Stent system is an extremely low profile device with ultra-thin struts and delivers exceptionally well. I am pleased to be associated with this registry and look forward to the long-term clinical data.”

This first patient was a 87 year old male suffering from angina CCS 3 despite maximal medication. A 2.75/18 mm COBRA stent was successfully placed in the circumflex artery by Professor Doctor Reifart. This international prospective registry will enroll 100 patients and will observe MACE (major adverse cardiac events) and TLR (target lesion revascularization) at 30 days and 6 months.

The COBRA Coronary Stent System received CE Mark approval in February 2008. Richard Klein, Medlogics’ President states: “Bare metal stents (BMS) are still used more than 50% of the time and we believe COBRA is the best BMS available. We are confident that the results of this COBRA registry will continue to support our preclinical studies demonstrating DES-like results with a BMS.”
